A man has been arrested in relation to the seizure in February of 11kg of ICE, $897,000 cash and luxury vehicles during a joint-agency drug operation.

A man has been arrested in relation to the seizure in February of 11kg of ICE, $897,000 cash and luxury vehicles during a joint-agency drug operation.

Strike Force Bursaria comprises detectives from the State Crime Command’s Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad (MEOCS) and the Australian Crime Commission and was established to investigate an alleged transnational drug supply syndicate.

It will be alleged the syndicate was responsible for trafficking drugs between NSW and Western Australia.

On Tuesday 15 February 2011, officers from MEOCS seized more than 11kg of ICE and more than $7000 in cash after stopping a van in George Street, Sydney.

Subsequent search warrants at Bondi and Vaucluse resulted in smaller quantities of ICE, $890,000 in cash and three luxury cars being seized.

The drugs had an estimated potential street value of $4.4 million.

Two men were arrested on the day and another was arrested in May. They are currently before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries by detectives, an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday 31 August for the offences of participate in criminal group; supply prohibited drug; and two counts of supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drug.

Yesterday afternoon, a 51-year-old man was met at Sydney Domestic Airport by detectives and placed under arrest.

He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with the outstanding warrant before being refused bail.

He appeared in Sutherland Local Court today where he was refused bail to reappear at Central Local Court on Tuesday 1 November 2011.
