National Indigenous Violence and Child Abuse Intelligence Task Force (NIITF) Collection Priorities
The Information Support Package (ISP) has been developed by the National Indigenous Violence and Child Abuse Intelligence Task Force (NIITF).
The aim of the ISP is to provide an overview of our collection priorities. The ISP also provides an opportunity for agencies and individuals to contribute to the NIITF.
The NIITF has a focus on understanding violence, child abuse, substance abuse, pornography and fraud in
Indigenous communities. In order for the NIITF to gain an understanding of these issues, a list of collection priorities has been developed and is provided below.
NIITF Collection Priorities
General information and statistics relating to the following Indigenous issues:
- Child Abuse
Physical, Emotional, Psychological, Sexual and Neglect.
- Violence
Domestic Violence (Partner / Spousal), Family Violence, Community Violence and Sexual Assault.
- Substance Abuse
Illicit Drugs, Licit Drugs and Substances and Alcohol.
- Misuse use of Government grants/allocations etc.
- Pornography
How is it supplied and viewed within communities (what is the level of exposure to children), child pornography and existence of non-classified and refused classification.
- Social Conditions
Health, housing, access to community services (eg domestic violence services, court services, recreational services) and provision and access to essential services (eg water).
- Reporting of offences/concerns to law enforcement agencies, Government and non-government organisations
- Level of reporting/non-reporting and other issues related to reporting (eg mandatory reporting).
- Level and nature of information sharing or impediments to information sharing between law enforcement agencies, Government and non-government organisations.
- Existing information collection and information sharing policies between agencies including legislative and regulatory impediments (either real or perceived).
- Type and extent of information/intelligence collected by an agency relating to Indigenous child abuse, violence, fraud, substance abuse, sale, trafficking, pornography and/or information relating to Indigenous offenders.
