Under limited direction the Senior Specialist ICT Communications performs various duties for a range of communications platforms (both data and voice) as directed by the ITI Communications Team Leader. The position will be one of sustainment, and activity providing support to existing communications network
Key objectives of the position:
The principal accountabilities and responsibilities will include:
- Answer customer queries and maintain up-to-date client contact details
- Effective methods of communicating with stakeholder and the timely resolution of issues
- Prioritise work according to deadlines and skills capability
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for clients on all Communication systems, performing system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and information gathering to determine and prevent issues
- Process day to day network administrative tasks ensuring smooth running of all network services
- Undertake other relevant duties as required
Key Selection Criteria:
The following are the specific Selection Criteria for the role of the Senior Specialist - ICT Communications. The position requires the ability to support data communications networks, troubleshoot and resolve issues and undertake design activity as required.
- Demonstrated experience in the following is essential:
- configuring Cisco routers, switches and HP Networking & Procurve switches;
- dynamic routing protocols EIGRP, BGP;
- QS and VLAN configurations;
- WAN optimisation and packet encryption;
- ADSL, ISDN, SHDSL, VPLS Carrier services;
- DHCP, LDAP, DNS T/IP v4 and v6 as well as VoIP;
- Various DSD ELa4 certified firewalls and gateways.
- Experience in the following is desirable, but not essential:
- NEC PABX systems (DMR, NEAC IPS 2000), MOC programming;
- Polycom HDX Video systems, RMX4000, CMA4000;
- RADIUS, TACACS authentication servers;
- Wireless communications;
- Structured cabling systems;
- Web and Mail Administration experience.
- When requested, be prepared to work outside of standard business hours in performing network changes and be contactable outside of business hours for urgent support.
- Be prepared to travel interstate to undertake system installations and or upgrades.
- Highly developed communication and liaison (including negotiation and persuasion), organisational, analytical and decision making skills.
- Cultivate productive working relationships and anticipates and is responsive to internal and external client needs.
- Preference will be given to candidates with one or more current networking certifications.
