National Graduate Program

The ACC offers 12-month placements to high calibre graduates from a range of study disciplines. These recruits are developed through a program which gives exposure to a range of ACC business areas. This enables the ACC to fully realise its capability as a multi-disciplinary leader in law enforcement.
The skills and knowledge graduates obtain through the graduate program will assist in building the foundation for career progression and professional development.
All graduates will have a strong mentor and supervisor support network.
The 12-month position will comprise:
- one primary placement in the key learning area (delivered over 7 months)
- two secondary placements in other learning areas (delivered over 2 months each).
Career Development
Placements offer graduates an opportunity in a national law enforcement agency which has unique capabilities and powers.
After the successful completion of the 12 month placement, high-performing graduates will be eligible to secure ongoing roles. All graduates will have the opportunity to acquire a Diploma of Government, and ongoing employment is dependent an completion of the qualification.
Placement Opportunities
Graduates will be drawn from the areas of Law, Finance, Arts, Human Resources, Information and Communications Technology, Criminology, Commerce, Business and Communications. Placements will be made in the following learning areas:
- Programs, including Specialist Services Group, Criminal Enterprise Structures, Groups and Targeting, Markets and Sectors and Intelligence Capabilities and Services.
- Strategic Outlook & Policy, including Communications
- Organisational Services, including Information and
- Communications Technology, People Management and Finance.
Graduate positions will be available nation wide.

Salary & Conditions
APS 3.1 $47,191pa plus superannuation
Performance Assessment
Graduates will be engaged in negotiated work based projects. Graduates will participate in the ACC’s Performance Development System. Successful completion of the National Graduate Program will be dependent on completion of the Diploma of Government, participation in rotations and delivery of a presentation to the ACC Senior Executive.
Selection Process
Applications are subject to a merit selection process. This may involve psychometric testing including aptitude testing, personality profiling and participation in assessment exercises.
Applicants must have graduated with a Bachelor level degree within the last four years, or will complete their degree in the year of application.
Successful applicants will complete a rigorous security assessment. Applicants must be Australian citizens.
Graduates are selected on the following criteria:
- demonstrated analytical and research skills
- ability to apply academic knowledge and concepts to practical situations
- ability to contribute ideas and demonstrate initiative and flexibility
- sound oral and written communication skills
- proven experience in use of Information Technology
- able to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships
- ability to apply project management practices
- high standards of integrity
- an understanding of OH&S and Equity and Diversity
- demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Australian Crime Commission.
How to Apply
Applications for each program open in July, with offers extended to graduates by November and commencement in early February of the following year. The positions will be advertised on our vacancies page. The program allows participants to gain experience in a range of learning areas.
In the application process, applicants will be required to nominate one particular learning area of interest. Applicants are encouraged to nominate the area that most closely aligns with their experience, study and interest.
